Nothing like a full-on monochrome outfit for the height of summer - clearly displaying that my inner goth is currently taking full residency come rain or shine. I'm also sporting a new purchase from Monki which is their classic black t-shirt, now as t-shirts go I have to applaud Monki for the quality of their pieces and how this very t-shirt has made itself a staple in my wardrobe. Who knew how I coped without a simple black tee prior?!

This outfit was taken a couple of weeks back (pre-heatwave) hence the mix of both summer and autumn pieces. It's also featuring a new addition to my The Mountain t-shirt collection which comes in the form of this beige stone wash number, with a print of "the original founding fathers" of the USA. One thing that drew me to this t-shirt was the shade of beige and the vintage esque illustrated print. I just love how it contrasts with my velvet black flares making even more of a statement print and t-shirt.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the clear blue skies and vast landscapes?! You could probably tell by the abundance of LA/California themed posts that I missing that place on a whole other level. Besides from being one of the most photogenic places on the earth, there is so much to see from mountains to beaches the humble ol' desert which just so happens to be my *happy place*.  The first three photos were taken at the Griffith Observatory which is a life-sized telescope situated off of Los Feliz blvd. on Mount Hollywood. With views spanning right across LA and a certain (iconic) sign, it was one of those places which if you ever visit LA you'll be sorry to miss. Plus its free to park and visit!

We then move onto our 'desert getaway' just on the outskirts of Joshua Tree a couple of miles from Palm Springs. There is something about the desert that I'm always see myself being drawn to, so spending the night there was the perfect excuse to fully embrace the experience and watch the sunset across Palm Springs. Part 2 will be up on the blog next week!

I'm always on look out for new make-up products to try out and to switch up my daily routine, from the basic products-face, lips etc to experimenting with different eye shadow looks etc. I've recently started getting back into wearing eyeshadows and after buying this palette from Make-Up Revolution I have completely fallen head over heels for its array of both rose toned, shimmer and matte shadows. I couldn't believe it was just £4 and for palettes that are comparable to certain Urban Decay range why spend more than you have to!
Whilst I was out in LA (nearly a month ago now...) I made a pilgrim trip to the "mothership" a.k.a Sephora and picked up one of their matte luster liquid lipsticks. This shade is perfect for everyday and has a slight gloss feel to it.
Another lip product which I've had my eye on owning for years (no exaggeration) is Mac Stone a shade which is described as muted greyish taupe brown, a matt lipstick that is a perfect colour for achieving a grunge inspired make-up look.

A new product which I was recently introduced to at the Pegasus Beauty Showcase is the Collection Contour stick which is a nifty product as it makes the art of contouring easy and quick to do, as well as allowing you to be extremely precise. Lastly is the NYX which has taken a rightful place in my make-up routine as I've been using this concealer in conjunction with the "Avene Hydrance Skin Tone Perfector" and have been loving the combination for a summer make-up base.

This is the final outfit of my California/ LA series and was taken at one of my new favourite places, Venice Canals. For me personally this was like discovering someones secret place that you wouldn't have even known noticed existed a few blocks away. We basically spent the morning exploring this serene place walking up and down the canals admiring the architecture and cat petting-we did become BFF's with a few to add. Then spent the afternoon getting tattooed...just a casual Friday really >_< You can take a peek at my new ink addition here.

With the Getty Villa acting as the backdrop for Monday's outfit post it only felt fitting for the Getty Centre to be the backdrop for today's post. As the hotel we were staying at was a 5 minute drive away we spent a lot of time exploring the Getty and the numerous exhibitions on display-as they're all free to view. A favourite was the Robert Mapplethorpe one as I've always been a fan of his, after seeing some of his photographs at the Tate Modern a couple of years ago. It also tied in well with the Patti Smith book "Just Kids" I'm reading at the moment, which accounts her relationship with Robert.

The Getty Villa (backdrop to these photos) is one of those places which is like stepping into some sort of mediterranean serenity in the heart of Malibu.  Its architecture and surroundings are completely opposite to the Getty Centre which is minimal and grid like in structure with views across L.A-photos on that to come very soon. Whereas in comparison The Getty Villa is right on the edge of Pacific coast Highway with views looking out across the coastline and sandy beaches. Somebody transport me back asap....
